Automatically Adjust Robot Movement to the Machine
Save Cycle Time During Removal with iQ motion control
Robot movement coordinated to the motion sequences of the injection molding machine reduces the cycle time of your applications. Especially when producing parts with a long core, such as housing components, the use of iQ motion control is recommended. The software precisely adjusts the movements of your viper linear robot to the machine. The system can be used regardless of the machine type.
Usually, the operator determines the path manually to optimize the robot's travel paths. With iQ motion control, the linear robot calculates the optimized path quickly and on its own. Thanks to the solution’s "early start" function, the robot starts moving when the mold opens. The parallel movement saves valuable time and ensures a cycle that is up to 10% faster.
To rule out a collision between the robot and the moving platen, iQ motion control works with a two-stage safety net. In the first stage, the current movement of the mold is compared with the previous cycle. In the second stage, the distance between the robot and the mold is determined during the robot's movement, then checked and corrected if needed.
Simple operation is a prerequisite for our digital solutions. This also applies to iQ motion control. In addition to the exact robot path, determining the early start position is important. However, it is difficult for the operator to find this position. iQ motion control automatically suggests the early start position based on the respective robot and machine setting parameters. This makes it possible for all machine operators to use the software safely and integrate it immediately into their daily work.
Experts from our global automation centers support you in designing your production cell, including optimizing your robot movements. You get access to the knowledge and expertise of the entire ENGEL team. This creates standardized automation solutions in Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

How Does the iQ motion control Software Work?
An Overview of the Effects and Benefits of the Functionalities
Functionality | Effect | Benefit |
---|---|---|
Optimized path planning | Fewer parameters must be taught | Savings in labor and cycle time |
Direct access to machine data | Robot and machine move in a coordinated motion | Saving of cycle time because neither the mold nor the robot has to wait |
Multi-level safety features | Robot stops before a collision | Avoid damage to the mold and the end-of-arm tool |
Joint data management of machine and robot | Load part data only once when the mold is changed | Reduce risk of errors and setup time |
Intuitive settings | Operator must only set a few parameters - graphics simplify this process | Save time during teaching |
